At the third stroke there will be a new timetable: McCann Melbourne launches ad campaign to promote the new Melbourne Metro timetable

McCann Melbourne created this radio commercial as part of a launch campaign for the new Melbourne Metro timetable, which simply informs Melbourne’s 800,000-or-so daily commuters of new, improved, increased rail services and times.
Writer John Skaro explains: “It was a bit of a no-brainer. After all, who better to inform us of time changes than the guy who’s been telling us for decades what the time will be at the third stroke?”

SImple. Nice.
I’ve never heard “at the 3rd stroke” before? how odd.
A bit of a no-brainer? Maybe next time a bit more thought and it would be a lot better. Good idea using that voice. But that’s about it.
Someone old obviously came up with this.
No one rings the time anymore, as phones and computers auto sync, and then you set everything else to that.
Good ad 10 years ago maybe. A “no brainer” for sure!
Basically as non-effective as the print and TV I’ve seen for the same client recently.
Miss Clock Watcher All that matters is whether the commuters will remember the time voice guy – which I’m tipping they probably came across in the ‘target’ part of the brief…
Or do you just wanna do an app…
Oooh. A nap sounds lovely. I’ll have one of those, thanks.
All commuters are going to remember, is some ad that does a random beeping noise that makes them feel anxious – like the service itself. Nice work, a no-brainer.
No brainer or no brains?
Sometimes trying to be clever gets in the way of being effective. Where’s the benefit for the average punter in this? My train was late yesterday, like it was late the day before that. The one that was one time, was too full to get on. How’s this ad going to make me feel better about this?
