The Wright Stuff: The Red Agency appoints new GM to develop Euro’s changing PR business
Euro RSCG Australia has lured James Wright from the UK to head up the group’s public relations offering, The Red Agency. He will join the agency as general manager at the end of April.
“James’ career is impressive. He has worked with blue chip clients across Europe and internationally conceived some of the most well-known campaigns that have had enormous impact for his clients. I am very happy he decided to move to Australia, and even more excited that he chose to join our group,” says Anthony Gregorio, CEO, Euro RSCG Group Australia.
In the UK Wright was managing director at Grayling and worked on some of Europe’s most influential and challenging campaigns. During his 11 years with Grayling, in its various forms, the business rapidly became the second largest independent global public relations consultancy in the world. Wright has broad experience across big brands, the public sector and NGOs, and has particular experience in crisis management, digital, CSR and sustainability.
In 2008 he was named the Public Relations Consultancy Association Consultant of the Year and in the same year was named International CSR Leader at the PR News (USA) annual All Stars Award ceremony at the Washington DC press club.
He is also a consumer expert and has devised many campaigns that have generated powerful imagery and media coverage. Some highlights include: recreating iconic landmarks from Coke cans for Coca-Cola in 4 UK cities; launching the world’s largest electric car trial for the UK Government; bringing to market the new Range Rover Evoque across 12 European markets; and recently launching Sony’s Open Planet Ideas digital crowd sourcing platform, also across Europe.
In 2007 Wright conceived the Chartered Institute of Public Relations Environmental Sustainability Guidelines and chaired a select steering committee that developed them. The guide is designed to help any practitioners undertaking green communications.
Says Wright: “The opportunity to move to a new market and head up The Red Agency was too good to turn down. We have some ambitious plans for the Agency, the PR world is changing rapidly and we aim to be at the forefront of that, leading the way. I am very much looking forward to working with the highly talented team already with the agency to deliver on this.”
