RAC brings home reality of roadside assistance in new campaign via The Brand Agency, Perth

For 12 long days and nights, The Brand Agency Perth, with the help of director Andrew Morton from Film Construction, went live on the road with four different RAC Patrolmen to give a fly on the windscreen insight into the reality of breakdowns which happen over 8,000 times a week in WA.
Totally unscripted, the campaign launches with 2 x 60 second spots, followed by a series of 5 x 30’s and shows a variety of situations, both humorous and emotional that eventuate from the average Patrolman’s day.

Compelling story, told by the most boring man alive.
Nice idea, great content.
Definitely more of a real human element compared to the previous stuff.
A 12 day shoot….unscripted, brave client. Looks like it paid off.
I think I would smash a window, get my kid out, and then call Windscreens O’Brien.
Hey Brand guys, get off this blog and get back to work.
So fuckin obvious
Isn’t unscripted talking to camera whilst driving dangerous?
I’d have expected a more unusual story after 12 days.
A 12 day shoot….should have been scripted, naive client. Looks like they paid too much.
Actually, a fly on the windscreen would have been a far more interesting 60 seconds.
Rest of the campaign here:

With all dues respect to rescue workers, who cares?
Unless the RAC guy was rescuing the newborn from a car in flames or, even better, a snake in the car, then give us a break until you find a more compelling story. I know what RAC guys do, so do you. So if you’re going to tell me what I already know, please make it really, really interesting. This needs a Fuck Me! element.
Just watch what, on paper, would be really boring reality TV programs like cops breathalysing people, dogs used in crime scenes to see how it should be done. Honestly, what could be more boring than watching people get breathalysed, yet, we all picture ourselves in those scenes or, at least, take perverse pleasure in watching another drunk dickhead get slammed for DUI.
Until then RAC, find another idea that’s a bit more compelling.
I’d rather listen to a cab driver. Sooooooo boring. 12 days. I feel for the camera guy.
Anonymous – HA! That name has been used before and better by a bloke back in the UK
As for this ad – 12 Days?! doing what? waiting for something interesting to happen? and it never happened. Hey RAC! time to pitch this out.
If I called them would they rescue me from the boredom?
Wow….riviting stuff….12 days for that…heres a thought….write a script that sells a product you lazy bastards.
I like ’em….genuine and honest.
Yep smash a window and then have a medical team remove the tiny fragments of glass from the babies eyes, nose and whatever else. At least the RAC and associated auto clubs know how to break glass the safe way if they can’t unlock the car. I’ve seen them in action and it doesn’t spray the glass through out the car.
As for the Patrol (boring man alive), it looks like he was asked to recall a job that stuck to the back of his mind. Did you want him to be theatrical and have it scripted?
He told it as it was, boring or not.
Hang about. I’m missing something here. Thats right. It sounds like some of you missed out making an ad for the RAC and being paid big bucks.
Gee I wonder if you would defend the ad content if you made the ad?
