Sydney advertising set to get seriously trivial in aid of Japan with pub trivia night this Wednesday

japan.pngThis Wednesday, Sydney’s advertising industry heavyweights will gather together to see who can answer the most trivial questions for a very serious cause. Spearheaded by Droga5, some of Adland’s best brains will contest the title at the Gazebo Hotel in Kings Cross.

After the CB Blog story last week all tables were booked by the end of the day. The list of competitors reads like a who’s who of Sydney advertising: BMF, Clemenger BBDO, DDB, Euro RSCG, Heckler, Host, Leo Burnett, Mojo, TBWA, The Communications Council, Reborn and Three Drunk Monkeys.

However, don’t let the full house deter you. There’ll be plenty of room at the bar for cheering and heckling – so do come along – and some pretty impressive items to be auctioned on the night.

Each team has paid $1,000 to compete, with every cent going to Japan’s Earthquake Relief through the Red Cross. (The Gazebo is providing the venue, and Droga5, in the spirit of “responsible service”, is providing food. Drinks are pay as you go.)

Says David Nobay, creative chairman of Droga5: “It’s a simple idea, but one that everyone can easily buy into. We were amazed at how quickly the industry responded. We were fully booked by the end of the first day.”

“It’s great to see the softer side of the business. And we’re already talking to other states to continue the challenge. It would be fantastic to see it take off nationally.”
