I’d like to be introduced to a CommBank teller machine on the blink.
HAHAHA!
It’s funny, cause that’s how real families talk!
😐
Awful. Noone outside of the banking and marketing sectors will watch it.
More dross from Goodby, Lynchie, or is this stinker home grown?
Isn’t that what Westpac did? Also badly…
I’m pretty sure I saw the Harrington’s taking cash from the ATM at Redfern.
I like what CBA are trying here though. I like it a lot.
Exactly the same as Westpac conversations campaign then.
4:17, 4:20 & 4:27 – bet you watched it all the way through though. give it a break, it’s not bad. In fact, it’s a helluva better written and produced than the Westpac crappy ads. And, yes, both of these owe a lot to the popularity of Modern Family, so I think the punters will have a look – for how many episodes, though, I don’t know. But you can’t dismiss it as shit because it’s very well done. By the way, I also bet your families sound like this when they get together.
4:38 it’s shit anyway you slice it.
and comparing your commbank shit with westpac’s shit doesn’t make it less shit.
shit!
easy to rubbish the Levis work the other day White, especially when you knew that you had such unbelievable content in the pipeline. you dirt ol dawgs, playing us like that!

you’ll really show them up when you get 7 million plus views on these beauties.
‘.
!
the real question is why modern family is so popular. let’s discuss.
painfully bad
That is trying really, really, really, really, really hard.
Well this really is a stinking pile of shit….the CEO, CMO and the market research company should be forced to watch on loop. There is no way I could watch more than 1 minute – this is toxic advertising! More depressing crap CBA – yes I think you are different – your advertising possibly sucks more than the other banks.
Not hard to spot the Goodby/BMF/White Agency people posting (I don’t know which of you f*ckers is actually responsible for this turd and I doubt you’ll be rushing to claim ownership).
They’re the ones talking about “that’s how real families talk”.
No it’s not.
NAB hit’s new heights, CommBank plumbs new depths
It’s a very anglo saxon family. Might put off the rest of the country.
God i was bored. Should have made it work for a 15 sec
What did I just start to watch? I threw up so missed the end.
I really like the idea of this, I really wanted it to be good. BUT TV is so so hard. If you want Modern Family you need to pay at least 15 writers and the lead is on 60K a week. This is really hard to do and you need $$$$$$.
I liked it better when Audi did it with “Meet the Beckers” back in 2008.
I wanted to comment but this guy summed it up much better:

working in advertising i see a psychiatrist every now and then, after our last session this week he said what will you do now, i said go and make some more ads, he said as long as they are not those terrible Commonwealth Bank ads that are telling me how much they care about me, when i know they don’t give a shit, true story.
Lame idea.
The free money at the ATM was a much better one.
Absolutely horrible!
And soooooo boring. What’s with these agencies and clients who think that people CHOOSE to watch a 5 minute ad?
Actually makes that shit from the US look OK.
Martin Whelan, now that you are acting CMO at Which Bank, can you please stop this shit from airing. It’s cringe-worthy. You worked on the agency side once upon a time, and you were responsible for some pretty damn good work on the CBA. What happened? Pitch the business and get it back to Australia where it belongs.
Got the fact that it is self-serving, well made, long winded dross in 15 seconds.
Then I had to blog about it.
Next!

2.45… Thanks for the big twist at the end there. You really landed that plane.
I find it amusing how these agencies think they have created a ‘full digital campaign’ by posting a few TVC’s online??? Are you serious!?!? you think the ‘engagement’ comes from people simply viewing this crap. FAIL very big digital FAIL.

Sorry, just had to quote that for effect.
+1 on rubbish. They run stupid 15 second spots before videos on fairfax news without telling you the brand hoping for the click through. I think they missed the ‘be interesting’ bit, though.
HOLY GOD. Get goodby to do your digital, too. This is embarrassing.
total crap common bank
