The Lab Sydney snares award-winning VFX artist Angus Wilson from Fuel as VFX supervisor
Visual effects, design and post production company, The Lab Sydney, has appointed Angus Wilson as VFX supervisor and lead VFX artist.
Prior to joining The Lab, Wilson was lead VFX artist for over two years at Fuel VFX where he worked on the Leggo’s “Rhapsody in Red” campaign with director Bruce Hunt and the “Measure Up” campaign for the Australian government’s department of health with director, Graeme Burfoot.
Wilson spent five years at Animal Logic as compositing supervisor prior to Fuel and worked on award- winning commercials including Vodafone “Fold” with director Patrick Hughes; Carlton Brewery’s “Big Ad” and “Sky Troop” campaigns with Paul Middleditch; and notably the Baz Luhrmann directed Chanel No. 5 TVC.
Wilson was based overseas for over six years at UK’s Framestore where he worked on award-winning television series including the BBC’s Walking with Dinosaurs and is a recipient of two Primetime Emmy awards for visual effects for a miniseries/movie for the BBC’s Merlin and the Hallmark series Alice in Wonderland.
Says The Lab Sydney executive producer Alastair Stephen: “We are lucky that an artist of Angus’ calibre and experience has joined the team. He has worked on numerous premier commercial projects throughout his career and brings a wealth of ideas, creativity and inspiration to the company. Angus’ strength is collaborating with directors from pre-production through to post and with his extensive on- set supervision and visual effects experience he will add enormous value to our clients’ work.”

If Bruce and Graeme follow Angus to the Lab for future work, then that will be news.
Until then, good luck, Angus. You’ll need all you can get.
I wonder if “snares ….. from Fuel” is just slightly misleading…
Who’s going to roto the pants at Fuel now?
