Wilson Everard flogs Aussie icon Install-A-Veranda via first-time TV ad campaign
Building company Install-A-Veranda is punting on bigger and better sales from a first-time TV campaign developed by Wilson Everard Advertising, Melbourne.
The TV spot shows famous Australians including Ned Kelly, Captain James Cook and Phar Lap all enjoying life with their verandas with the promise that they’ll ‘have it up in a day and you’ll have a hundred new mates in a week!’
Says Install-A-Veranda boss Justin Cannon: “Wilson Everard just got it from moment one when they said it’s bloody un-Australian not to have a veranda. They’ve put together a fabulous animated ad that really nails the fun of having a veranda and what it can do for your lifestyle.”
Creative: Jim Everard.
Account Service: Lauren Reilly.
Production: XYZ Films.

Oh well, at least this kind of work puts a roof over their heads.
A rather obvious strategy and very ordinary execution. Not worth posting.
“Famous Australians”? Phar Lap was a Kiwi and Captain Cook was as English as bad teeth and warm beer.
A least they spent their small budget wisely on animation and didn’t try to shoot this on video with people who can’t act. Like it for that alone.
Sweet Jesus
BEST ads on TV? Fuck off.
Great ad, easy to follow and gets to the point quickly. All the bad comments above put you name to the comment. Stop hiding behind Anonymous said: Weak people!
My father fought in the Aussie Navy in WW2 and I was in Vietnam. I love footy and cricket and I pay my taxes. I don’t have a veranda and I don’t want/need one- does that make me un-Australian? It may be just words but think about what you maybe propagating. P>S> I don’t drink alcohol anymore and I am a vego (so I don’t eat lamb)
does that make me doubly un-Australian? Maaaaate!
Yeah, ok.
My only point is where does the word ‘Verandah’ originate, and what’s with this ‘un-Australian’ BS? Since Paul Hogan disappeared, we don’t have a national identity outside of bashing ethnic minorities on the beach or doing blackface acts on national TV.
Sounds like a Sam Kekovich VO rip off
How can I say “lame” and still get “lamb” into it? What? Ok… “Lambé.”
And why are all the cartoon people swaying like bloody sea anemones? Are they all pissed? There are laws against getting cartoons pissed while making a television commercial.
Very funny spot with good Aussie humour. For christs sake you whingeing people take life and yourself too seriously. Reckon this absolutely hits the mark as a really good, fun and appealing spot.
This is a really funny ad with good Aussie humour. Settle the f*#k down everyone! Seems most people on this blog are hideously unhappy in life to need to vent this way.
11:30 – Great play on words. You must be a Cannes winning copywriter with that wit!
8:17 – I think you have some serious issues buddy. If you believe that, GET OUT!
And Digger – Yes, YES it does!
It really surprises me how many people on this blog are obviously depressed and angry! Some of the negative comments are just an example of jealous people who need to get a life. These are the sort of people who probably argue with their neighbours over the few leave dropping from an overhanging branch onto their property. Come people take a good hard look at yourself, its an ad about the veranda how bad can that be!!
Has anyone got a quote from these guys. It’s un-australian the prices they quote.
i got quoted for a 10 m x 4 m flat roof pagola and they wanted $15k. i priced the the materials and it came to $2.5k. What the Hell??
you have to be overprized galore to pay for this.
Have really enjoyed this ad. Great Aussie company, great Aussie ad. Didnt know this business existed until this spot.
Digger, yes… you are Un-Australian. Suck it up princess. Have a teaspoon of cement and harden the **** up…
