UPDATED: The call for applications to JWT Sydney’s 100-day internship program, The Deep End closes midnight tonight (Monday January 31).
Says Angus Hennah, JWT Sydney ECD: “We’re thrilled with the caliber of applicants so far – but like ideas, sometimes the best reveal themselves at the last minute”.

On a rolling basis, positions will become available for a Writer/Art Director team (2 positions) and a graphic Designer (1 position) and can be applied for in teams or singularly.

“They’ll work on actual briefs, and at the end of the 100 days, they’ll have a rejected campaign for cereal in their portfolios.”
I’d suggest checking the work on their website before you commit to three months on ‘a modest retainer.’
Not so much deep end as bottomless pit.
By the way creatives are jumping ship, good chance for a ‘Deep Ender’ to become a middleweight by the end of the 100 days.
Kids, don’t listen to the bitter hacks that will slate this course.
Angus will treat you better than most other Creative Directors in Australasia.
And the modest salary, isn’t anywhere near as modest as the working for free you do at 90% of all the other big agencies. Plus, unlike most other old networks, he doesn’t have a hierarchy where seniors get all the good briefs and juniors wank over crap cutout coupons. You get the same opportunities to win at Cannes as the grumpy old bastards that have desks and harbour views.

True. But that’s because he won’t talk to you. Or anyone else.
Damn a year too early for me… hope it’s happening again in 2012!
I encourage young creatives to give it a go. The people there are great and its a fantastic opportunity to work on real briefs. If you bring good ideas to the table, they will no doubt get up.
Ignore the blog bashers. Even they all had to start somewhere.
Good luck
Such a this site is really good and very attractive… so thanks for the sharing the information about the top advertising agencies.. and i am also impress for this information…
if you really want to get into this industry, then get in any way you can. the rest is up to you.
With 3 more creatives leaving this week, JWT is desperate for some creative leadership. Not more JRs.
Any start in an ad agency is a good opportunity. Go for it, you’ll learn invaluable lessons and if you have any sort of talent it could lead to a career. Of course it will help if English is your first language, unlike Jack Thomas above.
