Clemenger BBDO and KWP! on alert as George Patterson Y&R re-opens in Adelaide – headed by GPY&R national business director Steve Doherty

Steve Doherty.jpegGeorge Patterson Y&R is re-opening its Adelaide office,17 years after George Patterson sold its business there and six years after Y&R pulled out of the market following the global re-alignment of the Mitsubishi business.

The office will be co-located with Y&R Brands stable-mate Blaze Advertising in Kent Town and will be headed by Adelaide native, GPY&R national business director Steve Doherty (left) and staffed locally. .

“We’ve been thinking about this for some months. Adelaide is an important and growing market for some of our key clients including Medibank, the AFL and Suncorp. We have also identified local opportunities requiring national business partners, so the timing is absolutely right,” says Y&R Brands CEO Russel Howcroft.

“There’s a great opportunity to offer Adelaide clients access to betterthinking, planning and creative that bigger, better resourced agenciescan provide.

“We have key personnel across the country who were born andbred in Adelaide, who still has strong ties and local knowledge of themarket.”

Both George Patterson and Y&R were major players in Adelaide for several years, servicing most of SA’s leading accounts. George Patterson Partners sold its business there in 1993. Y&R closed its office in 2004 following the global re-alignment of the Mitsubishi business.

The new office will make George Patterson Y&R the only agency in Australia with representation in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Canberra.
