DDB appoints Morewood to head up McDonald’s

DDB Group has appointed Richard Morewood as managing partner of the McDonald’s business across Australia and New Zealand.
Morewood brings with him over 18 years experience in business management and is heralded as one of the most established leaders of complex and integrated business in Australia.
McDonald’s is the largest regional client of DDB, with a team of over thirty people working on the account from the Sydney, Melbourne and Auckland offices.
Morewood joins from M&C Saatchi Sydney and will start at DDB in January 2011, based in the Sydney office.

As an aside could someone please explain the use of the term Managing Partner? Doesn’t ‘Partner’ mean being an equity holder in an agency business?
