M&C Saatchi appointed to new Woolworths hardware venture following competitive pitch
M&C Saatchi has been appointed as the creative agency on Woolworths major new foray into the hardware and home improvement sector, following a competitive pitch.
M&C Saatchi worldwide chairman Tom Dery (pictured) is delighted tobe extending the agency’s remit on the retailer’s major new venture:”This marks a wonderful continuation of our relationship withWoolworths. We’re very excited,” says Dery.
In 2009 the Board of Woolworths Limited approved plans for the companyto enter the $24 billion plus hardware sector with a multi-formatstrategy designed to meet the everyday home improvement needs ofAustralian consumers.
The first of Woolworths’ hardware and home improvement outlets isexpected to be open in mid 2011. It has forecast to have 100 suchoutlets around the nation within five years.
M&C Saatchi has been the creative agency on Woolwortths since 2002.

Their natural competitor, Bunnings, is owned by Westfarmers (Coles).
