I love those ads where they show an idilic pretend factory with caring workers who hand pack the product into wooden crates.
Mmmm.
nicely directed.
If you’re going to do another factory or lab idea you need to push the boat out further. Way further. I do like ‘Man your man could smell like’ style VO though.
The juice your juice could taste like, via Mad Men. Take two parts old spice, one part mad men and dash of animation, blend and serve. Mmm tasty. Make no mistake, this is a great commercial. Like a good cocktail – proven ingredients well served.
Nice work GD & co.
Looks like your ad could look like if you if you want to make the process of selling an ad to a client easier. I’m done in a single take.
This is the most fun I’ve seen a client have with their product in a long time. Glad they took the plunge into comedy again – the “juicing in the back of the van” ad they did years ago was great, and this is even better. Hat off to you. Look forward to seeing it on Teev .. “Like”.
This is like a perfect microcosm of today’s creativity- bland, inoffensive writing, a checklist of items straight off the brief and an idea and technique “referenced” from various other ads that were actually good- Old Spice, anything directed by Traktor in the 90’s- and ooh- a bit of an endframe from gettheglass.com.
Yet another advertiser who’s walked away from a strong, meaningful brand property – the juice factory in the back of a moving truck in this case – to something generic to the category.
Why, oh why are we doing this?
Surely the challenge is to constantly find more creative ways to execute a core brand idea you’ve spent millions of dollars to establish in the minds of consumers, not to produce a mash-up of current ad techniques (as referred to by other bloggers on this thread) and a shopping-list of weak, unsubstantiated, generic claims.
Navel AND Valencia oranges! Wow. Should we be impressed? Is there anything unique or earth-shatteringly newsworthy about this in an orange juice? I don’t think so. Nor would consumers.
This ad is just another example of an advertiser resorting to an extravagant way of saying nothing. NOTHING.
Looks like the BRANDPOWER creatives got another gig.
There are still a lot of clients out there who pay less mind to good creative work than they do a slick sales pitch. Must be why these guys win so much new business.
It’s pretty good. Actually, it’s very good. I like it.
So 7.57pm, do you work for CHE or Campaign Palace?
Nice work!
It’s ok. In fact it’s pretty good for the above mentioned reasons, even those that were trying to point out it’s ‘creative flaws’. Consumers won’t give a shit if it looks a little like one ad and sounds a bit like another… It does the job for product… And category… Maybe not the brand (just yet).
You Australians are so far behind the rest of the world it’s embarrassing watch. You even go to great lengths to publicise the fact.
10.35 thanks for coming to our wonderful country with your burnt corn teeth, someone has to help drink that stockpile of warm shitty beer. We really don’t have enough English people here to tell everyone how good the people were you worked alongside in the mother country. If it wasn’t for you, we wouldn’t know how talented you were by association. Australia for it’s tiny ad population ha been doing a grand job of taking home your d&ad pencils for beer commercials.
Shit beer commercials though 7.53
7.53 you’re talking shite.
It’s odd, it’s strand, it’s nostalgic and similar to old spice in that there’s no defining idea but it’s delivered well.
I think there’s a bit of a renaissance going on in TV for Australia: boost, tingle, commbank, ing, eclipse… it’s half american, half british. Good spots coming out.
I like it, better than the brandpower or clever strategy, boring execution stuff we’ve been putting up with.
Listen 7.53. Don’t get all shitty with me because of your inferiority complex.
D&AD has sold out to giving international awards to raise revenue. Otherwise, non of those Aussie beer ads would have picked up. Fact is the Australian ad industry is, without doubt, derivative of what’s been done elsewhere in the world ten years before. And then, when you do imitate, you do it badly. It’s painful to watch.
Why should we be proud of doing ads that look a bit English/ a bit American?
How about finding a unique style that maybe feels hmm… Australian?
Referencing the 1950s or early 60’s as this ad is doing means the presenter’s voice should sound a little British, as that’s how the Aussie voice sounded back then. It was nothing like it is today: we spoke much more ‘proper’ back then, when on TV anyway.
Jolly good ad I say.
Australian advertising really is years behind and lazy too – it so accurately reflects the amazing lifestyle we live here. Hands up if you would rather go to the pub or the beach than stay late and work till you find an original, great idea – that isn’t a pun. There’s no excuse for a pun and there’s no such thing as a “good one.” I can understand bailing early if the surf is up, but seriously, when your arms are toast, come back to the office and keep trying for gold, because the creative bar is set off shore, and if you don’t believe me, ask yourself who the consistently great creative agencies are here? Name one that has punched out great, international award winning work every year for the past five or ten years? Is there a single shop that does, or has ever matched the quality of work put out by the likes of BBH? Goodby? Mother? Weiden? And don’t start in with the “we’re a smaller market, we have smaller budgets” excuses. More great work comes out of, dare I say it… New Zealand. Get off your high horse, grab a pint, put on some sun cream and get over yourself… or, do what people do in places where they actually do great work… work.
How about getting rid of the blue plastic rings on the bottles first? I might start buying the stuff again. All our bowerbirds are choking to death on your blue bits, Daily Juice
