Prodigy’s Tim Bullock takes out Best TVC Direction at the 2010 ADG Awards for Toyota

Prodigy Films’ Tim Bullock picked up Best Direction in a Television Commercial for Toyota ‘Nothing Soft Gets In’ via Saatchi & Saatchi, Sydney at the 2010 Australian Directors Guild Awards presented last night in Sydney.
VB ‘The Regulars’, directed by The Glue Society at Revolver via Droga5, Sydney, Subaru ‘Crowd Rider’ directed by Steve Rogers at Revolver via Leo Burnett, Sydney, and TAC ‘Swap’ directed by Sean Meehan at Soma Films via Grey, Melbourne were shortlisted for the award.
TheGlue Society also picked up highly commended in the Best Direction in a MusicClip environment for Misfit’s ‘Bumblebeez’, which was won by CraigMelville for Northcote’s ‘So Hungover’. Renegade’s Tony Rogers picked up Best Direction in a TV Comedy Seriesfor Wilfred 11 Espisode 7: Dogstar. Broadcast on SBS, the show is about a boy,a girl, and a bong smoking dog who thinks he’s human.
Theawards celebrate the creative achievement of directors in film, television andnew media platforms. Altogether, there were 64 nominations in 18 categories.
Inaddition to the peer-judged award categories, three achievement awards werepresented:
* Documentary maker Bob Connolly was the recipient of the Outstanding Achievement Award for a body of work in any genre (presented by Paul Byrnes)
* Tony Tilse was presented with the Michael Carson Award for excellence in TV drama production (presented by Mark Wareham ACS)
* Chris Webb was presented with the First Assistant Directors Award (presented by Kriv Stenders)
Atthe awards the NSW Minister for the Arts, Virginia Judge, announced that themajor international television conference INPUT will be staged in Australia forthe first time in 2012 when it is held in Sydney. With around 900 delegates,the conference has support from public broadcasters, screen agencies and theADG. The ADG also announced that it will be holding its conference in Adelaidenext year for the first time, in collaboration with the BigPond Adelaide FilmFestival and the Australian International Documentary Conference.
