GASInc to launch Talent Please at end of July – the world’s first voice-over iPhone app
Melbourne and Sydney based sound studio GASinc has developed the world’s first voice over casting application for iPhone, providing advertising agency producers, creative teams and recording studios the ability to find the voice talent and their nearest recording facility they need, straight from their phone.
Talent Please is a ‘one stop’ shop to find voice talent and soundstudios from anywhere in Australia and the World. Users can search bylocation, age, gender and apply over 40 different voice styles,ensuring Talent Please delivers a search result perfect for theirbrief, every time. Voice artists and recording studios apply tosubscribe ensuring the integrity and credibility of the app ismaintained.
“The idea is to provide a professional tool for the industry,” GASincmanaging director, Rodney Lowe says. “Quite often we’re asked forsomeone ‘new’ and ‘fresh’, and there’s no central place to access thesegems quickly and easily. Talent Please gives the industry immediateaccess to up to date demos. With the ability to find studios withfacilities to record that perfect voice makes this app a must have forall agency creative’s and producers.”

Useful, although it won’t make casting voices less awful than sticking a hot poker in your eyeball.
There are already a stack of these sites out there, sadly the overall quality of the artists that sign up is very low. “I’ve been told I’ve got a good voice, I’ve got a Mic and a computer in my bedroom… Voila! I’m a voiceover!” Talentplease? A valid question.
Yeah, a stack of crap sites that you wouldn’t touch … I’m sure GAS would only accept quality, professional voice artists…. they’ve been doing this a long time.

Could be useful if you’re an iPhoner looking for an inexperienced person with questionable talent who fancies their own voice and has $150 to waste. Or if you enjoy wading naked in a very shallow talent pool with your iPhone. Actually, that would look pretty funny.
Your article says “major Australian talent agents already on board”… which ones? I understand the two biggest Australian voice talent agencies, RMK and EM Voices, have not made any such commitment. How do you justify this statement, Campaign Brief? Are you making up all your “facts”?
What the company behind this needs to do is to spend time getting sales before some other company copies this great idea.
Funny, as a producer at one of Australia’s leading agencies, RMK or EM voices would only supply a small amount of our voice overs. I agree it needs good content but let’s see how it goes.
It needs good promotion, and a good salesperson.

Seems like a pretty good connective vehicle for producers, agencies and talent to me! It would be extremely short sighted of talent agencies to overlook this platform, especially if production houses are really looking down this technological path as a way of operating. Don’t turn away a gift horse!!
Great marketing idea from Gas. But if you need to cast a voice, ask someone who casts voices. No matter how good the search facility, there is no substitute for experience & knowledge.

There is something in the difference between agents. RMK, Blah-Blah-Blah, SJ Management, EM Voices and Kathy Evans are all fairly different to deal with and give a brief to – but tend to share a ‘quality imperative’ with their VO artists. If this App can somehow ‘screen’ artists and guarantee that same level of quality, then it could become a useful tool.
On top of the quality, it’ll need to be comprehensive – otherwise it’s back to casting from the aforementioned agents’ sites.
