i really wanted to like this, but i can’t. at all. i hate it.
Fucking brilliant.
SImple, funny to the point.
Nah.
Lame.
I’m going to be kind here – this is average
This provides a new definition of parochialism.
So bad. So very, very bad.
The production values between the two sections of the ad just don’t work!
Not just parochialism, but cliche and stereotype.
Made me laugh, wish we had West End in NSW.
Tastes awesome out of a can.
The melbourne section is funny, but overall it’s just let down with average writing and direction.
Could’ve been a lot better, but perhaps that was the client’s hand.
To us, this work is based on a pretty sad and petty insight. But the truth is, South Australians will love it, because they ARE that parochial.
So maybe West End better not let their drinking public know that they’ve gone to a Sydney agency for their advertising.
Coming from SA I find it very funny. I’m sure drinkers will love it too.
people in adelaide are going to love this ad.
you don’t know how bitter they still are about the grand prix being stolen…
This was lukewarm, like my triple shot soy latte daaaahling.
So very very naff.
OK, yeah it’s all a bit lame. And, yes it’s ripping off a certain Chaser sketch. But eyes on the target, people. IF you were a big mullet-ed Port supporter just off a tuna boat and feeling thirsty, chances are you’re gonna love seeing an effeminate Melbourne diner end up wearing his soy chai latte.
What do you think Ben?
I just laughed, it’s hilarous. Not one of those pretentious, epic or ‘It’s another magical/ weird wacko world’ alcohol ads. It’s just Aussie, taking the piss out of something.
So.
SA like it.
Victoria don’t.
NSW couldn’t give a toss either way.
Makes sense.
People in South Australia deserve this kind of advertising.
FLAT.
Like the rest of the work on that reel. Too much cheese. Overdone.
4:03pm – CORRECT.
Being from SA i find this insulting. I guess this is what happens when a Sydney agency makes an ad poking fun at Vics for an SA beer.
The refrence to the Grand Prix is such a dead horse. It was over a decade ago. Move on. We have.
Silly negativity. This will work wonderfully. Great parody of the tourism ad. Brilliant delivery of the line “awesome”. So much unecessary ignorant hate. Well done to those involved.
So, strategy is, drink West End ’cause you hate Victorians.
How very Sydney.
Losers.
I’ve been waiting for a long time to see Little Miss Red-Yarn get it.
bloody victorians cant take a joke. haha.
I grew up in Melbourne but now live in South Australia due to work. People, you have to undertand that West End draught is a bogan drink, so they have to play up the idea that anyone who drinks anything else is a pretentious wanker.
The Melbourne tourism ad was whimsical and clever – it made people want to go to Melbourne. This ad makes me want to (continue to) avoid Adelaide pubs and their trailer trash alcoholic patrons.
By the way, the ad has hints of homophobia in it (the guy with the weird blonde hairdo) and so it will encourage people to say “Yep, that’s what you get in the provincial backwater that is Adelaide”
fuck u victorian basted go back to were u come from if u dont like adelaide so fuckl off back home
