will clean up.
again, another great simple idea, but beautifully executed. Good wakeup call, refreshing work with this and Puma Hardchorus.
…no, what…. you can find stuff on Google? Really?
Wow. A Yellow Pages ad from 20 years ago.
Nothing to see here move along.
Beautiful. Just when i thought Old Spice had ad of the year stitched up already this comes along. Great simple truth used to tell an emotive little story. Cracker. Not sure even Yellow Pages was this effective, even at their best. Grand Prix – there I said it.
..Because it was from Google, that’s why you think it’s a Grand Prix,
What’s the insight?
I can find stuff.
Really? I use it to find stuff every day. In fact, seeing as there’s no search engine OTHER than Google, 99.99% of people who watch this will also be using it daily.
It makes me like Google – a brand I take for granted.
As my anonymous friend 3:44 said, we use it to find stuff every day, as do 99.99% of people. And these 99.99%, like you, also take it for granted.
That is the insight. Simple and true.
They managed to turn this into a great little story that makes you feel warm and fuzzy about them. It’s called branding. It’s science. Look it up.
It’s shit, look it up in the toilet….
According to the experts, 99.99% of the 20 million people downunder use Google. What about the 1.5 billion people in China that use Baidu? Google isn’t the only search engine in the world.

Listen you utter cretin, branding is fine and dancy when you’re attempting to differentiate yourself in the marketplace.. but when.
…Oh, I don’t care.
You’re a junior planner somewhere. Who gives a toss eh?
This blog sums up our industry.
Anyone who thinks this ad is shit, is full of shit and should leave the industry.
Anyone who thinks this ad is brilliant is full of shit and should leave our industry.
It’s a charming, clever ad.
Client probably loves it and it would probably make the punter smile.
Why can’t an ad be just “good”?
Not everything is terrible or world changing.
Too many people are on this comment section with an agenda.
“It’s shit, look it up in the toilet….”
You’re funny.
But you’re still wrong.
Utter cretin…? Name calling… This really jumped up a notch. Awesome.
Doesn’t the market leader continue to do branding work to maintain it’s dominance and continue to ‘differentiate’ themselves from all the faceless competition? Call me crazy, or cretin.
Also, to our angry new friend 12:53, there seems to be 4,008,442 people that thought it was worth a look (see link below).

Not bad for a “good” ad.
3:44 I hope you’re not a planner because that’s a terrible insight.
The actual insight in the ad: I need to find answers to problems in my life, and google is the one that can help me.
Sure, it might not be true on a day to day basis but at least its better than “find stuff”. And no, the Yellow Pages cannot tell you the definition of what a truffle is or who Francois Truffaut is. I agree that it’s not the best ad in the world, but it turns a digital platform into something human and personal.
