Sunday Gravy appoints Sean Sowerby as head of PR and content
A media journalist may not seem the obvious hire for an agency, but Sunday Gravy’s recruitment of PR expert Sean Sowerby speaks to its broader philosophy around “ideas that last”.
As agency co-founder and creative partner Ant White says: “Sean has a long career crafting the news, so he’s able to wrangle brands into the news cycle. With him onboard, we’ll have more opportunities to put brands in front of consumers in an authentic light.”
Sowerby comes from a strong journalistic background and joins the team as head of PR and content. This gives clients more opportunities to tell their stories through genuine news and human interest stories.
Sowerby is a former award-winning sports reporter and presenter, with experience across a number of Victoria’s TV and radio newsrooms, including Channel 7, 9, 10 and 3AW. He’s also won multiple industry awards for his PR work, most notably for Virgin Australia’s Middle Seat Lottery, receiving 2.8 billion earned media impressions with an estimated value of more than $22 Million.
Says Sowerby: “I was delighted when the Sunday Gravy team approached me to head up this new offering for them, and am already lucky enough to be bringing my journalistic background to the amazing brands they work with.”
Says White: “This feels like a natural progression for an incredible leader and specialist like Sean, as well as for Sunday Gravy. We were often asked for our recommendations from clients for PR firms, and sent them Sean’s way. We are thankful he’s decided to make Sunday Gravy his new home, and really excited for what he’s already delivering in the short time he’s been here.”
