Gene Simmons returns to screens in new TVCs for TABtouch via Clemenger BBDO, Sydney
A new TVC developed by Clemenger BBDO Sydney is set to amuse viewers and aims to position Racing and Wagering Western Australia’s TABtouch as the wagering partner of choice. In the next instalment of ‘The Touch’ campaign, Gene Simmons will again grace Aussies’ screens and interrupt the daily lives of ordinary punters.
Earlier this year, Racing and Wagering Western Australia’s TABtouch launched ‘The Touch’ brand campaign with Clemenger BBDO Sydney which featured seven-foot-tall rock-legend Gene Simmons ripping out 80s anthem, “You’ve Got the Touch”, to a variety of unexpected punters.
Now, with the 2022 FIFA World Cup approaching, and as Aussies prepare for the Spring Racing season, TABtouch is again positioning itself as the wagering partner of choice through another funny TV advertisement.
Simmons will return to screens and visit ordinary punters in unanticipated moments: from waking up a punter for a 3AM soccer match to assisting a couple with their pre-Race Day glam, Simmons will remind punters that they’ve got ‘The Touch’.
Clemenger BBDO Sydney’s chief executive officer, Brent Kerby, has underscored that a collaborative relationship with TABtouch has allowed them to play up personality in the next instalment: “The first instalment of this campaign was to establish a new tone and personality for the TABtouch brand. This latest work extends this. With Gene as our comedic foil, we are able to cut-through in what is a highly competitive market.
“The TABtouch team is enthusiastic for the work to stand out, so this campaign will continue to push further as it evolves.”
Says Katie Roberts, head of marketing, TABtouch: “Working alongside Clemenger BBDO Sydney, we’ve successfully built a campaign that will undoubtedly amuse and delight viewers.
“We’re thrilled to launch another advertisement that brings some much-needed fun to screens across Australia, and will build on the success of the previous instalment.”
Launching on August 21, 15 & 30-second TVCs will be running nationally on Sky Racing, and in Western Australia on subscription and free-to-air TV, Print, Out of Home, Digital and Radio.

That’s just weird.
Once again, KISS demonstrating there is no product on earth they won’t lend their name to in order to make an extra buck.
Kinda sucks that the TVC is held up by gambling ads. Praying on the weak to make a dime
Sorry but this is terrible creatively and strategically
As there is no reason for KISS it vamps the brand No one will remember the brand production wise I’m not sure how it got this bad
When will agencies reject these clients? Bloodsucking unethical work BBDO. Disgraceful.
A creepy ad for a creepy product.
Says a lot about the agencies that still do gambling work in 2022.
Let’s use a song by Stan Bush, but get Gene Simmons to sing it because nobody knows who Stan Bush is.
You gotta pay some bills. I get it.
Genuine question. Why is doing a gambling ads worse than an alcohol ad? No one has a problem with beer ads but alcohol kills more people than smoking. I’d wager (ha) that alcoholism puts just as much strain on family finances as gambling. I’m just wondering where we draw the line? McDonalds and coke with child obesity? Airlines with their carbon emissions?
While I’m at it, I refuse to work on any brand that isn’t environmentally friendly, doesn’t have sustainable practices, use plastic, don’t have a diversity board, send work to third world countries, it’s employees drive cars and use electricity. Other than that, I’m good.
So true, I’m all for cocaine ads actually.
Just why?
Agree. Alcohol and fast food are equally as bad as gambling. I think the take out here is that most advertising is unethical. Essentially anyone working in advertising is a cog in the capital system that fuels the ever growing divide between the rich and poor. Happy Wednesday everyone 🙂
Unless you only work on brands that feed starving children, then shhh!
Are you kidding? The gambling industry is highly-risky from the get-go, incredibly emotional, and totally predatory. Think about the psychology inherent with money.
Nobody has a problem with beer ads because for 99.99999% of people, buying some beer is none of those things. Same as McDonalds.
Maybe try getting outside the San Pellegrino Curtain and exploring how damaging problem gambling can be, when it’s not beer or Big Macs you’re increasingly betting to chase your losses.
The cognitive dissonance works on both sides here.
You work in advertising.
We live in a capitalist society.
If you follow the chain of holding companies from almost every brand you’ve ever worked on, you’re gonna have a bad time.
Nestle steals community’s water and sells it back to them with more microplastics in it than any other brand. Yet, there’s no bleating on here when one of their ads pops up. But heaven help you if you post a gambling ad.
Bad work
The problem is not with agencies working of gambling ads. The issue is how loose the regulation of the gambling industry is, and also how much it’s permeated the broadcast experience when you watch any given sport. There’s simply too much of it.
Agreed. The gambling companies (and by proxy their agencies) are simply doing their job. It’s up to the government to clamp down and regulate the industry if they see an issue with it.
Love seeing all the little, woke, social justice warriors working in the ‘ADVERTISING’ industry and trying to argue their little Socialist views.
To everyone above, why is there no director listed?
Because they feel proud of directing a gambling ad?
Oh sooooo serious everyone!
Its quite a good fun ad.
I like it.
No one is having their arm twisted to go and gamble.
Stopping gambling ads will do little.
It is only human nature to have bad habits, addictions and make bad choices. That will never change.
Australia is such a nanny state compared to the rest of the world.
The fun police banning things at the expense of the majority to protect the
few .
