Modibodi asks is your period green? in new eco-conscious campaign via Emotive

Australia’s leading period and leak-proof apparel company, Modibodi, is flipping the switch on periods with its latest campaign, ‘My Period is Green’ via Emotive.

Remember when period ads were blue? Since day one, Modibodi vowed to show it like it is. Red. However, Modibodi’s latest ad is turning periods green, in a mission to encourage the nation to put their bodies and the planet first.

In step with the brand’s push to normalise periods, Modibodi’s recent ad showed period blood – and upset Facebook by doing so as they temporarily banned the Modibodi ad because of the blood scenes. Although Facebook did eventually lift the ban, it proves we have a long way to go in diminishing period stigma and educating people about the choices available to them for period management.

Now Modibodi is back, with a new colour. Green.

‘My Period is Green’ is a clap back at those who don’t like to see red in advertising, and a shout out to the sustainable creds of the brand.

So, while continuing the fight to normalise red, Modibodi is also encouraging the nation to go green and ditch the disposables.

Modibodi’s founder and CEO Kristy Chong said the brand is committed to protecting the environment and reducing the unnecessary reliance on single-use items such as pads and tampons to manage periods and other leaks: “Many people are shocked to know that the average woman will use 11,000 disposable feminine hygiene products in her lifetime (to manager her period) and these convenient products come with a huge environmental cost.

“At Modibodi we say NO to single use products. The energy and water of the raw materials, plus production and carbon emissions used in shipping these products – which are used once and replaced – are unacceptable. At Modibodi we put sustainability first and so do our customers, and we thank them for choosing to reuse!

“Every pair of Modibodi’s reusable undies saves the planet from the plastic in disposable period products. Since we launched in 2013, Modibodi has saved millions of garbage bags of waste from ending up in landfill, but there is so much more that we can do as a collective.”

Did you know that a single tampon takes more than a lifetime to break down in landfill? Or that one pad has the same amount of plastic as four carrier bags? Or that the first tampon, liner, and pad ever created are still lingering in a landfill somewhere in the world?

The #MyPeriodisGreen movement is set to take over social feeds as the brand encourages its audience to go green and educate others to do same.

How are people getting involved? It’s simple, they’re:

1.       Ditching the disposables and making the switch to Modibodi

2.       Educating friends and family on the damage of disposables

3.       Encouraging others to join the ‘My Period is Green’ movement for a better planet

4.       Posting photos across social platforms to spread the #MyPeriodIsGreen message – think plants, greenery, nature, the new sage undies and Modibodi’s dedicated #MyPeriodIsGreen Sticker

It’s simple really – the future of periods is reusable, not disposable. Every pair of Modibodi’s reusable undies saves the planet from the plastic in disposables. What’s more, they don’t cost the earth.
