Best Ad of the Day: ‘Hey. We’re a Brand’ by Ivan Whitted + Samantha Geloso

With many creatives in the world self isolating, Campaign Brief introduces a daily dose of inspiration – Best Ad of the Day – chosen from the many submissions to our global creative site, Bestads.
Just a normal brand from Brandtown, USA, talking to you – the people – during a pandemic.
A satirical personal project created by the US-based Ivan Whitted and Samantha Geloso, who highlight that out of tragedy can come awards.

I actually find this deeply cynical, hipster attitude worse than any brand cashing in on Covid. Most creatives aren’t thinking about awards, they’re thinking about how they can save their client’s businesses and their own jobs. There are a finite amount of hours in a day… you chose to spend them making this. Really?
And you chose to bring the word hipster back and complain about a satire? Lmaooo
So you find THIS worse than billion dollar brands trying to profit off of people suffering in a pandemic? Girl bye.
It’s not contagious so most people don’t get it.
Agencies are in a free fall right now and everyone is laying off people left and right. So trying to stay relevant for clients has fuck all to do with awards. Wow, they must be some angry or totally oblivious hipsters. It is so easy to be cynical, it is the ultimate defense for being very average or not achieving really anything yourself. Let me guess, you are both freelancers and live in Brooklyn or Venice beach. You are quirky, sarcastic and wear cool hats or ironic glasses. You choose to be under the radar because being good or successful would make you a sell out right. So you choose to keep it real on the side lines. Who has the time, energy or thought process to shit on people trying to do positive things during a terrible time. Who did they make this for? Other broke hipster with the crab mentality? Why would you make this? More importantly, what do you think agencies should be doing during this crisis?
Ok. Boomer.
This is not even clever satire. Missed the mark, I think.
Actually nevermind. I think it’s pretty clever. I watched again.
If it annoys you, its because it’s targeted at you.
Its too close to the bone, for talentless schmucks that can’t read a room never mind understand a target audience. If you can’t connect with people right now, you’re no good at what you do.
That’s my take-out from this “send-up” that annoys inflated ego ad-shots with a total lack of self and professional awareness.
That second YG comment is from someone else.. Sad way to defend boring work.
Isn’t their video just the same as this:

But with a Covid message?
Actually nevermind. The second YG comment is from the same person. I lied.
