The Plots Lose Thomson

Seasoned creative director Steve Thomson has departed Connecting Plots after a very productive year at the helm. During which time he orchestrated numerous integrated campaigns and project wins for the likes of Maximus (a Bestads winner), Fantastic Furniture, MLA, WW, Nestlé and Casella Wines.

Says Thomson: “I’m very happy with what we managed to achieve from ground zero in such a short period of time, especially given the resources. I always saw the move into the production/creative hybrid space as a bit of an experiment and one that was definitely worthwhile.”

Commencing his career in Sydney at BAM SSB, picking up a Cannes Silver Lion in his debut year, Thomson has also worked in the Asian, NZ and the US markets, spending almost five years at TBWA Chiat Day Los Angeles, then under the leadership of Lee Clow.

Upon returning to Sydney, Thomson co-founded boutique shop Bondi Advertising, followed by creative leadership roles at BWM as the GCD and LOUD as ECD. Recently, Thomson is better known as one of Sydney’s leading freelancers, enjoying extended stints at the likes of The Monkeys, DDB, Special Group and Ogilvy, to name a few.

Thomson sees the production/creative hybrid is relevant model for the future hinting, “It’s definitely a lane I’m excited to continue playing in.”

Thomson is currently available for freelance via his site: mindmeld.net.au.
