Pat Anderson + Will Winter-Irving: Spikes Day 3

Pat Anderson and Will Winter-Irving from R/GA Sydney have won Gold in the Digital category of the Young Spikes competition. Here they give a rundown of last day.

We write our final blog, a broken shell of a team (in other words Will made Pat get very drunk last night). Special shout-out to our new friend Tino Chai – he’s the singer that kept us entertained while we downed 5 litres of cheap beer. You can check his music on Facebook… it’s magical.

We just came back from Spikes where we listened to a few talks. Well, I say we, but Will did and Pat just paced up and down the conference hall trying to break the nerves before they announced the winners of the Young Spikes. I just asked Will who he listened to this morning and he said “some Kiwi guy and then some French guy, but I didn’t listen to all of the French guy because of the Young Spikes thingy”. After further investigation, we learnt that the Kiwi guy was James Hurman who was the founder of Previously Unavailable, an agency in New Zealand. He spoke about creative originality, which Will said was GREAT! The other bloke was Fred Raillard – he’s the Creative CEO and founder of Fred and Farid – a really awesome agency in China and some other places.

After that, we were ushered away to the Young Spikes announcement to find out that we won gold!  

Tonight, we’re looking forward to the ceremony and then we’ll be jetting off back to Sydney, where there is no Dengue Fever.
