Sam Cable: Hamburg school diary #10
Sam Cable is a copywriting student at Miami Ad School Sydney, currently studying in Hamburg before graduating in December.
The day has arrived. After two years of portfolio school, I had the greatest pleasure to graduate alongside some of the most vibrant emerging creatives of 2015.
We sit, wide-eyed and hopeful for the future.
We sit, ready to make our lives extraordinary.
The driving purpose of this last quarter was a portfolio website. With the help of the incredible Lennert Schrader, director at Plexus Productions Europe, samanthacable.com is officially live. For best results, open the page in Google Chrome to explore the ideas and passion projects.
It has been very humbling to document my story over the last 10 months with Campaign Brief. I never dreamed my little series of articles would be welcomed with such warmth. The opportunity to engage in discussion with top creatives such as Bill Yom, ECD Serviceplan Korea, and Götz Ulmer, ECD and partner, Jung von Matt Hamburg, have made my experiences invaluable. The following are four of my favourite quotes:
“Find a way to entertain me now and entertain me quickly.”
– Justin Reagan, Copywriter at Cutwater San Francisco.
“Be efficient. Outsource the additional skillsets needed to complete the task at hand.”
– Jens Urbaniak, Founder, GoButler, New York.
“Keep it real. Keep it authentic. Make honest storytelling, and it will go far.”
– Oliver Dietrich, Director of Concept and Creative at Seven One Ad Factory, Hamburg.
“Work on the idea until no one could possibly not like it.”
– Justin Sanders, Copywriter at Eat24 San Francisco.
I want to say thank you for the Campaign Brief community for the support throughout my journey across Sydney, San Francisco and Hamburg. Thank you to Helga Diamond, Manolo García, and Niklas Frings-Rupp for welcoming me into your schools. Thank you Megan Cable for always proofreading my articles every week. I could not have achieved this without your help.
I am proud to say this is my 28th article. Let’s see where the world’s takes me.
The future is here.
For those with eyes to own it.
It’s my time to shine.
