Sam Cable: Hamburg school diary #6

| | No Comments

ham1.jpgSam Cable is a copywriting student at Miami Ad School Sydney, currently studying in Hamburg before graduating in December.

‘Today I am writing to you from the inside of a moderately comfortable bus, plodding through the German countryside’: This is a line I never thought I would say. Finishing my course in Hamburg has allowed room for these spontaneous little journeys.

But only on a student budget it seems perfectly reasonable to opt for a 12-hour bus ride over a 1.5-hour flight.

I still have several hours to pass until I arrive in the city of Munich. Last month I was a little bit upset because I was living Germany and did not have the opportunity to attend the iconic, Bavarian Oktoberfest. Although I am a month late to the celebrations, my dad said plainly over Skype, ‘Sam, it is alright, you will be attending Novemberfest instead’. Bring on the Deutsch Wurst und Bier!

hm2.jpgEarlier this week, my art director and I made the final preparations for our pitch with Timm Weber, Executive Creative Director at Publicis Pixelpark. We have concepted an integrated campaign and are looking forward to our presentation. The view from the agency always brightens up my day, looking out over the coloured buildings. I promise, while I am celebrating Novemberfest over the weekend, I will remember to practice the pitch – well try to anyway.

Munich here I come.

Crammed on a bus for 12 hours.

Budget of student.
