Jack Watts Currie Sydney copywriter Rich Brophy launches new gadget to toilet train grown men
Jack Watts Currie, Sydney copywriter Rich Brophy has launched a new gadget, called the GloBro, to toilet train grown men.
The GloBro is a tiny lighting device that lives underneath the toilet seat, automatically turning on and off when the seat goes up and down.
By night, The GloBro lights the way for gentlemen when they get up to pee, saving their eyes from the harsh overhead lights. And during the day, its glow entices them to put the seat back down in an act of self interest, saving the batteries for when they need them most.
Says Brophy, cofounder of Bondi startup Frothonauts: “200 years of being asked, begged and nagged to put the seat down hasn’t worked. We knew that to get guys like us to put the seat down, there had to be a genuine incentive.
“The GloBro creates a subtle psychological shift from “putting her seat down” to “turning my light off.””

biomedical engineer for Cochlear, have been working on the idea for a little over a year.
Says Dusseldorf expat Dueck: “It started because our friend had a dodgy toilet seat that wouldn’t stay up, and we were working on a device to fix it. But then we were “enlightened” by our girlfriends the real issue is the seat never going down.”
After many late nights, failed prototypes and strong coffees, the GloBro is now on Kickstarter; a crowdfunding platform used to test the market for new ideas before they go into production. The makers of the GloBro are looking for $35 000 worth of support, and for a contribution as small as $15, you will be rewarded with a GloBro of your very own.
Whilst the Frothonauts are looking to raise enough to cover production and setup costs, any, any proceeds beyond their target it will be donated to WaterAid, an international organisation that brings sanitation to the world’s poorest people.
